Students and businesses are eligible for 2017 Governor’s Giant Vision Business Competition

Calling all entrepreneurs! The Governor’s Office of Economic Development is seeking applicants for its annual Giant Vision Business Competition.

The contest awards cash prizes to winners in two categories: student and business. Competitors submit an application and business plan, and make a formal presentation to a panel of business exports.

The first place winner will receive $20,000 in the business category and $5,000 in the student category. Additionally, the competition also offers the support, resources and networking opportunities crucial to starting a new business in South Dakota.

“The Giant Vision Program is all about helping South Dakotans turn ideas in to businesses. The connections we made with investors, and the business insight we received has propelled us toward our goal.” – Dr. John Berdahl, CEO and founder of medical device company EQUINOX and 2015 Giant Vision winner.

Finalists will be selected and will compete at the competition April 26 in conjunction with the Governor’s Economic Development Conference.

Applications for the business category are due February 24, and March 3 for the student competition.
