New business on Tyler Street

A new business has recently opened in the Tyler Electric/TE Underground complex on North Tyler Street. Tyler resident, Jayne Salentiny has opened a photography studio, specializing in creating portraits of children.
Jayne lives west of Tyler with her husband, Matthew, and two sons—Timothy, age seven and James, age three. She went to school at Ridgewater College for their photography and graphic design program.
“After I graduated, I worked under a photographer for a year and then I opened up my own studio in Clara City,” she said. “I was there for three years until I married my husband in 2011 and then we moved to Tyler for a job position that was offered to him as an agronomist in the local area.”
When the Salentinys first moved to Tyler, Jayne continued to photograph part-time between Clara City and Tyler, until they moved to an acreage outside of Tyler and their first child was born.
“Then I decided to focus my time on being a full-time stay-at-home mom and homemaker. On the side, I continued to photograph family and friends and taking mentoring classes under other photographers to keep my skills up to date. As my boys grew older, I felt I was ready to take on more sessions and open a studio space in Tyler for a more open range of clientele. Currently, I am still a full-time stay-at-home mom and work part-time as a photographer. Because of this, the studio is only open by appointment and I accept a limited amount of sessions per month.”
“I’ve always been interested in photography. Even as a young girl I remember setting up blankets as backdrops and putting together sets with my dolls and stuffed animals to photograph them. I wasted so much of my mom’s film! I’ve always had a need to be creative on a daily basis, no matter what the creative outlet is. My day doesn’t feel fulfilled unless I’ve done something creative with it.”
Jayne says she grew up on a farm near Maynard with her parents and four siblings.
Jayne says she has done all types of photography in the past, from weddings, graduating seniors, families, maternity, newborns, children, and even a little commercial work.
“But after having my own children, I became very interested in specializing in the craft of newborn and children photography. I love the art, patience and the reward that comes from mastering the lighting, posing and imagery of a subject that is constantly moving. Plus, I just really love being around little ones! I also specialize in small/ immediate family photography. It’s a lot of fun photographing a family’s dynamics, and it’s just really an honor being able to capture that for them.”
