Heartland sponsors GOED reception

The South Dakota Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) held its annual economic development conference in April.  Themed “May the Workforce Be With You,” this year’s conference covered topics ranging from helping leaders build tomorrow’s best practices today to workforce financing.

Heartland once again sponsored the evening reception prior to the presentation of the conference’s annual awards.  Our sponsorship earned a shout-out from GOED on Twitter, at right.

At the award ceremony, Ron Utecht, a former professor of chemistry and biochemistry at South Dakota State University and previous Giant Vision winner, was named the South Dakota Entrepreneur of the Year for his efforts developing technology for the medical industry.  Jim Doolittle of Belle Fourche received the Excellence in Economic Development Award and Gregory was named Community of the Year.
