Small utility cybersecurity guide released

From the February 2017 issue of The Resource, Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has released a Guide to Cybersecurity, Resilience, and Reliability for Small and Under-Resourced Utilities.

The Guide looks at cybersecurity at small utilities (defined as having less than 100 employees or 50,000 meteres) and offers a process that utilities may want to consider to better address their approach to the issue.

The Guide notes that much cybersecurity guidance for utilities falls short, due to size and complexity. However, the report identifies a handful of guides that were developed with smaller utilities in mind.

The report is free, non-technical and 33 pages, including appendices.
