Heartland Energy welcomes Megan Rummel
November 2, 2023Heartland Energy is excited to announce the hiring of Megan Rummel as an accountant.
She comes to Heartland Energy with several years of experience in the accounting field. Most recently, she was an accountant at East River Electric Power Cooperative in Madison where she was responsible for accounts payable, credit card transactions, payroll and accounts receivable.
She also assisted in implementing a new record retention system.
Rummel began her duties with Heartland on November 2. She will be working alongside longtime accountant Sharla Fedeler for the next several months. Fedeler recently announced she will be retiring at the end of May.
“We are lucky to have Megan join our team,” said Heartland Energy CEO Russell Olson. “She has a lot of relevant experience and being from Madison, is familiar with most of our staff, so she is a natural fit.”
Before East River, Rummel also spent time working as an accountant and office manager at G.A. Murdock and previously worked at Citibank.
She obtained her bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Dakota State University in Madison.
“I’m looking forward to the team atmosphere at Heartland Energy and learning about the company,” Rummel said. “I know I bring a lot of relevant skills to this job, but also am excited to learn new tasks.”
Rummel is also active in the Madison community serving as a board member of Interlakes Area United Way. She is a past board member of the Domestic Violence Network and the Dakota State University Alumni Board.
A native of Crooks, SD, Rummel resides in Madison with her husband Floyd and their three daughters, Maddie, Peyton, and Jordyn. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, running, golfing and spending time with her family.
