Take control of your privacy settings

Manage your data on popular apps and devices

Every day, we share pieces of ourselves online—often without realizing how much information we’re giving away or who can access it. From social media and apps to smart devices and online accounts, privacy settings quietly determine what data is collected, how it’s used, and who sees it.

Understanding and managing those settings is a practical way to protect your personal information, reduce unwanted tracking, and keep control over your digital life in an increasingly connected world.

If you need a nudge to check your privacy settings, Data Privacy Week is the perfect reminder.

Data Privacy Week is an annual initiative led by the National Cybersecurity Alliance (NCA) to help people and organizations take control of their personal data. NCA is a nonprofit dedicated to creating a safer, more secure online world through education and public awareness.

The good news is you don’t need to be a tech expert to make meaningful changes. A few small updates to your privacy settings can limit data sharing, reduce tracking, and give you greater peace of mind.

Manage your settings

NCA offers a comprehensive list of direct links to check your online settings on popular devices and services, or to read about your platforms’ privacy policies.

The guide includes everything from e-commerce and mobile banking to health applications, food delivery, social media, streaming services, photo sharing and more.

Here is just a small sample:

NCA provides links for over 150 sites. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, you can request assistance by emailing info@staysafeonline.org.

Small changes, big impact

Managing your privacy doesn’t have to be overwhelming or time-consuming. Even a few minutes spent reviewing your settings can make a real difference in how your personal information is collected, shared, and used.

Data Privacy Week is a helpful reminder that you have choices—and many of them are just a few clicks away. Taking small steps now can help you feel more informed, more confident, and more in control long after the week is over.
