2025 Winter Conference
November 13, 2025
Safety is both a science and an art. And it begins with each of us.
However you decide to approach safety, there are numerous tools available to achieve a culture of safety. Employees must be empowered to know they can stop accidents from occurring.
Rodney Walker Sr. worked for one of the largest utilities in the U.S. Several years ago, he was injured in an electric arc flash. He received burns to his body and sustained internal injuries.
After several surgeries and countless rehabilitation sessions, he returned to work with a passion for safety and desire to keep others from injury.
As keynote of this year’s Winter Conference, Walker will discuss the casual factors that led to his accident and how he believes an injury-free workplace can be achieved.
All municipal utility staff are encouraged to attend, including line and maintenance crews, finance officers, administrators, support staff and more. The event will also include an update on Heartland’s 2026 budget.
RSVP by November 6 to claim your gift of custom swag.
The morning conference and lunch will take place at Royal River Casino & Hotel in Flandreau, SD. Dinner will take place at Mad Mary’s in Flandreau.
