Langford students add color to Public Power Week

November 5, 2026

Creativity, color and friendly competition helped make Public Power Week fun for Langford, SD students.

The city shared coloring sheets from Heartland Energy with students in kindergarten through fifth grade, giving them a fun way to learn about community-owned power. Every student who turned in a completed sheet received a can of pop from city hall.

The top coloring page from each participating class also earned a goodie bag filled with squishy toys. Students submitted their colorful creations, which the town shared in an online gallery.

Finance Officer Kaitie Stiegelmeier said it was a fun way to get kids involved in Public Power Week and help them learn about the utility that serves their community.

Thanks to the crew at Langford for bringing some creativity to this year’s celebration!
