FR store is open

January 13, 2026

Equip your crew with safety gear

Heartland’s FR (flame-resistant) clothing store has reopened. The initiative makes it easy to shop for protective gear and keep crews safe on the job.

Qualifying employees of our customer municipalities will receive an email from Amaril Uniform Company notifying them that funds have been added to their account. Watch your Inbox for a notice from cartsales@amaril.com.

Safety program with impact

The FR store program has grown steadily since its launch in 2024. The numbers thus far demonstrate strong local support for employee safety.

Year 1:

  • 19 communities participated
  • 60 employees equipped
  • 173 items purchased

Year 2:

  • 21 communities participated (72% of our customer utilities)
  • 73 employees equipped
  • 185 items purchased

On average, each city outfitted three employees with three items each, showing steady growth in both participation and engagement.

Safety first every day

FR clothing isn’t just a program–it’s a critical part of protecting utility workers from arc flashes and other electrical hazards. Heartland encourages all customer employees to pair PPE with proactive safety habits.

Before any job that involves energized equipment or electrical work, crews should:

  • Review the day’s tasks
  • Identify potential hazards and controls
  • Confirm each team member understands their responsibilities
  • Remind everyone of required PPE and necessary tools

Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association has created a helpful guide for job briefings. The easy-to-use checklist makes the process easy and consistent, increasing awareness and reducing complacency.

Looking ahead

The FR store is one way Heartland and our customers invest in employee safety. Eligible employees should watch for their Amaril email to access their accounts and start shopping.

With continued participation, the program strengthens safety culture one piece of PPE at a time.

Please reach out to Heartland Director of Customer Relations Kelly Dybdahl at (605) 256-6536 if you have any questions about the program.
