Dylan Riedel is Student of the Month
June 4, 2024Madison senior earns award from Heartland Energy and KJAM Radio
Madison High School senior Dylan Riedel has a natural talent for computer programming and often spends his free time gaming or exploring various tech activities. His interests are leading him to Dakota State University (DSU) after graduation, where he’ll study computer science in pursuit of a career in software engineering.
His future at DSU looks promising, as he was awarded two prestigious academic scholarships earlier this spring. The Elite Champion Scholarship and DSU Rising Scholarship are awarded to high-achieving students based on ACT scores and high school GPA. As a recipient, Riedel is among the top students at the university.
Riedel has been named Student of the Month by Heartland Energy and KJAM Radio. He’s recognized for his outstanding character and accomplishments both in and out of the classroom.
“Dylan has been a great student leader at Madison High School,” said Principal Adam Shaw. “He was selected as a Student Ambassador his senior year and has done an excellent job of creating a positive culture for the freshmen and student body. He is kind, passionate and caring and always goes out of his way to make everyone feel welcome.”
Riedel is a member of National Honor Society and participates in Quiz Bowl and youth group. He’s also talented in the fine arts, performing in the marching band, concert band and winter drumline.
Additionally, he sings in the school’s choir and jazz choir as well as in the chapel and adult choirs at his church.
Riedel is the son of Stacey and Kelley Riedel. In addition to his tech interests, he enjoys doing puzzles, biking and getting involved in church activities.
The “Student of the Month” is awarded through a partnership of Heartland Energy and KJAM Radio in Madison and recognizes exceptional students in one of five area school districts. Heartland Energy provides wholesale power to the cities of Arlington, Colman, Howard, Madison and Volga, all of which are in the KJAM listening area. Officials from each participating school nominate students for the award.
Each month of the school year, Heartland Energy presents an outstanding student from one of these schools with a recognition certificate and small token, and advertisements announcing the winning student air on KJAM Radio.
