Arlington High School senior earns honor from Heartland and KJAM Radio

Miles Antonen is a well-rounded, motivated student who balances his studies with a busy schedule of activities.

“Miles is one of those seniors who somehow does it all,” said Arlington High School Principal Lisa Parry. “He maintains a high GPA, competes in sports, is active in music, and is a member of various organizations. He is a great role model.”

Antonen has been named Heartland Energy and KJAM Radio’s Student of the Month. He is recognized for his character, high academic standards and extracurricular involvement.

Antonen is an accomplished mathlete and four-year member of the A Club, which recognizes students on the A Honor Roll. He attended Boys State his junior year and is a member of the National Honor Society.

Outside the classroom, Antonen serves as First Chair Percussionist in the school band and is active in FFA.

He is also a multi-sport student athlete, serving as captain of the basketball team. He plays Legion baseball and is a member of the golf and track teams. In 2025, he earned fourth place in the triple-jump at the state track meet.

Antonen is passionate about the outdoors and spends his free time hunting, fishing and working on his family’s farm. After high school, he plans to attend South Dakota State University and double major in ag business and economics.

Antonen is the son of Nathan and Lauren Antonen.

Student of the Month is awarded through a partnership of Heartland Energy and KJAM Radio in Madison. It recognizes outstanding students from five area school districts: Arlington, Colman, Howard, Madison and Volga. Heartland provides wholesale electric power to each of these communities.

School officials from each district nominate students for the award.
