We want your story for Public Power Week
September 18, 2025Join us as we celebrate the people and communities powered by public power
Every October, communities across the country celebrate Public Power Week–a time to recognize the many benefits of locally owned, not-for-profit utilities.
This year, Public Power Week takes place October 5-11, and Heartland Energy is excited to join the celebration.
Public power means more than just electricity. It’s local control, reliability, and reinvestment in our communities. From safe streets to strong schools, public power supports the things that make our hometowns great.
We’ll mark the week with newspaper ads, letters to the editor and spotlighting the voices of our customers on social media.
To do so, we need your help. We want your voice to be part of the celebration!
Record a short video (10-30 seconds) on your phone or device answering one simple question: What does public power mean to you?
When recording, please include your name, city and job title with your municipality (if it applies).
To submit, you can upload your video at heartlandenergy.com/public-power-week or email it directly to danielle@heartlandenergy.com.
Not sure what to say? Use one of these quick scripts below or make it your own.

No matter how you tell the public power story, your voice makes it stronger. Use this week to showcase the value of your local utility and connect with your community.
